So often our conscious mind needs to change but for some reason, our subconscious holds on to familiar ways of doing things. How can hypnotherapy help? Well, hypnotherapy can help to change the beliefs in the subconscious.
Hypnosis is a changed state of awareness and increased deep relaxation that allows for improved focus and concentration. It helps deal with emotional issues. By working together, I will help you achieve your full potential.
In hypnosis, you are totally relaxed, yet still aware of your surroundings and what I’m saying to you and completely in control.
This is how can hypnotherapy help
When you are relaxed like this, your conscious mind drifts off out of the way, giving me the opportunity to speak with your subconscious mind and when given some positive suggestions, your subconscious can help you to change your mindset and motivate you to be the person you want to be.
It allows your conscious mind to sit back and allow your subconscious to open up and be receptive to creating change and embracing change
Your mind has two parts, the conscious and the subconscious. Your conscious mind is your logical mind; it deals with analysing situations such as reading, writing and talking. It uses rational thoughts, learns, understands and organises things, thinks and makes choices.
Further ways hypnotherapy helps?
The subconscious mind is not always rational or appropriate. It deals with emotions, memories, imagery, imagination and dreams. The subconscious will carry on doing things in a set manner and will run the same programme over and over. The subconscious is always there trying to do the best for you but sometimes it gets the wrong message and it needs help to write a new set of instructions. It is where a lot of unusual behaviours come from. You develop habits and get stuck in negative routines because your subconscious doesn’t know how to change and this is where I can help you.
Even if you want to change yourself it does not necessarily mean you are able to affect change in yourself. For example, a person who suffers from agoraphobia that has panic attacks about travelling on trains; their conscious mind will be saying this is stupid, I’m perfectly safe on a train. However, their subconscious mind will be creating this irrational fear, because the subconscious mind believes for whatever reason that there is danger and when the subconscious and the conscious mind are in conflict, THE SUBCONSCIOUS ALWAYS WINS!
The brain learns by repetition, this is how can hypnotherapy help in another way. By mental rehearsal, by doing visualisations where you once might have become anxious and changing the outcome to a more positive one can make new pathways in the brain. This is how can hypnotherapy help, by creating a vision of how your future can be, it will give you a more positive outlook that would previously have caused anxiety.
For example, toilet anxiety, public speaking or interviews, something you would normally find nerve-wracking. By learning some new techniques, you will be more confident than you have ever been.
